I'm A Dream.
Let me take you to a trip down memory lane.
It's Fall 2015. My husband has just started to play the all new FIFA16. While he is playing in our living room and I'm lying on the sofa playing with my phone, I hear the most awesome sounds. Because Fifa is not about music and finding out what song is playing is not very practical, I had to go through dozens of songs from the playlist to find the right one. When I found the right song and artist I went straight to Spotify and played all the songs from that artist.
The artist was Seinabo Sey and the song was Pretend.
And that song was the first song My Queen performed. I straight up started to scream and then cry. And that was my mood through the whole show.
The show was just... perfection. Seinabo is a true visionary. She wore a gorgeous sequin dress and even though it was a challenge to take photos and videos of her because of the sequins, it was also a pleasure for the eyes. You could see the reflections of the sequins all over the ceiling and walls.
The band and the background singers. The sheer amount of different drum sets, keyboards and instruments. And I just loved the live versions of the songs. They were amazing and Seinabo is a true live performer.
The second song was Pistols At Dawn. I immediately started to cry. I bet that is my favourite song of all the songs. In the whole world. I love everything about it. It's so mystical, dark and full of raw energy. It was just phenomenal hearing it performed live. It was just about the only song I have wanted to hear live. The live band gave it an awesome afrorock vibe. And they didn't forget about the pistols, the essential part of the song. I'm against all guns, but as a sound effect in a song... What a power move.
You was just beautiful. Full of soul and dem deep bass. The band and background singers did an incredible job. Just wow.
Hard Time has some very powerful lyrics and very interesting beat and mood. This was just amazing to see live. I loved how the background singers captured the very essence of this song. It really became alive.
Seinabo, you are The Dream. You made my whole year with your beautiful new album and your phenomenal show. To quote one of your fans I found from Instagram:

I Owe You Nothing. Man what a b'dass song and a B'DASS PERFORMANCE. I fell in love with this song immediately when it came out as a single. The live version had very cool rock vibes.
My Eye was so... I don't know the English or even the Finnish word for this, but mysig. Oh well, at least Seinabo would understand the word and other Swedish peeps. Seinabo sat on a bar stool all by herself, all spotlights on her and she had this echoing gramophone-like mic with her. Sorry, I have zero clue about all the technical terms and words, but yeah. Such a mysig performance.
Remember was just phenomenal. Seinabo also sang Jacob Banks' parts and it was soooo AWESOME. "Show me some stars beneath this, beneath this ceiling". Seinabo's luminous dress provided the stars for the night.
"And when the going gets rough and life gets tough, don't forget to Breathe." Wow. I'm still crying to this song. I screamed and sang along and cried when Seinabo performed this. I just don't have any words. The most important song.
I have a little confession though. I wasn't sure about this song at first. Can't exactly say why, but when I really tuned in and listened to the lyrics, it hit me right away. Now I love every second of this song.

Never Get Used To is Seinabo's song to his late father, Maudo. He spoke about him after singing this song. And, you guessed it, I started to cry. This is a touching song with heartwarming vibes, but when you really listen to the lyrics, it really hits you right in the feels. All you girls and boys without parents, listen to this.
Words is inspired by her mother Madeleine. The last verse goes:
My will is pure, I adore
Grief and give all of me
All I have, all I am and all I wish to be
To be part, to be part of your harmony
Still in my mind, I'm in the corner singing off key
Well not today, my queen.
My will is pure, I adore
Grief and give all of me
All I have, all I am and all I wish to be
To be part, to be part of your harmony
Still in my mind, I'm in the corner singing off key
Well not today, my queen.
Who is one of my fave upbeat songs, even though the lyrics probably ain't the most upbeat. I so would've wanted to stand up and scream the lyrics from the bottom of my lungs!
FINALLY WE GOT UP. I know, Seinabo's music is not exactly the most upbeat music and maybe won't make you dance that much. But still I love to stand up at concerts because I simply can't stay still and sitting down at concerts is almost torture for me. Luckily when Seinabo started Younger, she wanted us to stand up and sing with her. When she sang "you know you ain't getting any..." we shouted "YOUNGER, YOUNGER, YOUNGER, ARE YOU?" It was a beautiful moment of unity.
Still was another song where Seinabo wanted us to sing with her. I always love these moments.
"Peace and love. Uhhh... Is there any particular vibe you're interested in?"
NOW IT'S A PARTY! It was time for GOOD IN YOU. Man I LOVE this song! It's so full of joy and party vibes (and still it makes me cry, why you do this Seinabo?!). And even though the song is about a man and a woman meeting at a club and sweet talking and stuff, I find my own deeper meaning from the song. Like I said in my review about this song, I really feel like Seinabo is saying to me to find the good in me. It has been hard lately, but I will never stop striving.
Even though I didn't want this night to end, it was time for the last song. Hold Me As I Land. Dimmed red lights set the mood right. So delicate and beautiful. Perfect way to end a perfect show.
I never would have believed that I would say this but... Thank you Fifa for bringing Seinabo Sey into my life. I have gotten so much from her. Beautiful melodies, lots of inspiration and the most meaningful lyrics. I am not a black woman, but I am a young woman (2 years younger than Seinabo) and I can recognize myself from a lot of the struggles she talks about in her lyrics. Seinabo is so genuine and deep as an artist. She is true to herself. She is all about class and high end fashion, but at the same time she keeps her feet on the ground. I love that.Seinabo, you are The Dream. You made my whole year with your beautiful new album and your phenomenal show. To quote one of your fans I found from Instagram:
